E-Mail Notice Well I'm back. I tried to type this last night but I think I still had jet or time lag. I would first like to thank Patsy, Johnny, and Nancy for taking such good care of me while I was gone. Patsy entertained me the entire week in Houston. She and her husband Joey did things like trying to get me to try Sushi; didn't work, but did have some Sake bombs and ate some seaweed (tasted just like it did when I was a kid at the ocean and got some in my mouth), drove me around in a Vette (she has a 94 white Corvette and her husband Joey has a 91 special edition Vette, and I thought Linda C was having a mid life crisis with her Camaro), took me to their dinner club (I forgot the name Patsy), let me play with her two dogs and one fat cat, took me to see my nephew in the VA hospital (now that is a big hospital) and last but not least took me to see the Beach Boys (and didn't even mention my bad singing) which was a great concert. I did find out that I can't keep up with Patsy and the big city life. I think she benefited from my visit though, as I calmed her down on several occasions in the traffic (she gets a little upset). She also got to use the HOV lane (I forgot what that acronym stands for but you have to have 2 people in your car to use the lane) and she was tickled about that. She also took me to buy some SAS shoes. Patsy you were right; my wife says they look like old man shoes (hey I ain't 18 anymore). I still don't care, they are really comfortable. Thanks again Patsy, I would recommend you to any visitor in the Houston area. I didn't get to see Johnny very long but we went by the Mormon Tabernacle (you have to be some kind of special Mormon to go in) and a downtown tour of Salt Lake City. Then we went to his house and I worked on his computer trying to get his scanner to work with no luck. He did get me to the airport with about 3 minutes to spare. It was kinda neat having your name called over the paging system in an airport (reminded me of the movie Airport), anyway I made the flight okay. Nancy and her boyfriend Robert (do we still say boyfriend-girlfriend at our age?) were also gracious hosts. Sunday we went to see Carmel Bay and Pebble Beach golf course. It was called 17 mile drive and was really pretty. At least I got to see Pebble Beach Golf Course, won't ever play it at $325 a pop. Went to Starbucks Coffee several times and some great eating places, especially Bandera's where they have roasted chicken over an open fire out front and great garlic potatoes. Went to San Francisco and crossed the Golden Gate Bridge (cost $3 to go over it from North to South) then went to a place called Vista Point where you could look across the San Francisco bay and see the city and Alcatraz. I was also fascinated on the way by the size of the concrete pillars they use to hold up the freeways (do they have earthquakes there or something?) Then we drove on up north a ways and ate some fajitas at a restaurant on the docks. We then walked out on the docks and looked at 2 plus million dollar houseboat which was a replica of the Taj Mahl. Nancy sent me home with some San Francisco sourdough bread (and it is really good Nancy, we had it last night). Thanks again Nancy for a great time and entertaining me all week. I have several pictures which I will try to get on this week and send a notice when I do. Oh yeah, almost forgot, learned a lot in school. It was a Windows NT Workstation and Server School. Okay back to the business of the class. I got the online registration form in perfect working order if you want to register there. (http://www.bhs1969.com/bhs/registration.htm). Johnny asked me about it. MSS is still anxiously awaiting the replies. Debbie Degitz-Fulbright has had an email address change, she is now ddfulbright@yahoo.com. I got an email from Sue Anne Jenkerson and apparently her invitation fell off the dogsled enroute to her (for those of you that don't know, Sue Anne lives in Alaska and studies intestinal instability in Eskimos [I think that's right? Sue Anne?]). I will send her a replacement this week or Sue Anne you could just go to the online registration above if you like. Kenny has some pictures but we are having compatibility problems. I'll be in touch later this week, but have a lot of real work to catch up on. TTFN, John |
