E-Mail Notice 8-5-99
| Hey to everyone, Well MSS e-mailed me and said she was having John Vinson withdrawals so I will try to catch up. I have been working quite a bit lately as the college is in the process of Computer Networking the entire campus and with my position there I am heavily involved. I should be a little less stressed (I'm not sure what stressed feels like though, that's one of those things like being in shape and I don't know that one either) after next week as the bulk of the work will be completed. Some good news for our own Danny Dozier. The city council rezoned the lockmaster's house by the dam so it looks like he will get to move his Depot Diner restaurant to the river. I heard it was going to be called the Dam Restaurant. Any truth to that Danny? Haven't gotten an exact count on the number attending our 30th but it is somewhere in the neighborhood of 45. Pretty good turn out for a bunch of aging teenagers. We have heard from several other classes that we are quite the envy of them in that we had such a large turnout and a good time. Would like to by the next reunion at least get in touch with all our classmates and catch up with what they are doing. I am trying to be careful about what I put on the website as I am well aware that a gozillion people have access. If I inadvertently put something about you or yours on the website that you would rather not have there please email me and I will discreetly remove the sensitive subject matter. Have heard from several classmates about the reunion and all seemed to have enjoyed it very much. I guess we didn't expect to get a note that said "I can't believe I paid 50 bucks for that!". If you do have criticisms or suggestions about the 40th please feel free to send them to us. We are thick skinned and readily admit that we can't think of everything (especially after half the box is empty). Other news about town, remember the White River Water Carnival? It is high tech now. You can see actual video of the events by going to http://www.batesvilleonline.com/ . You will have to download Real Player but it's a no brainer and it's FREE. Just go here: http://www.realplayer.com/ . So there's something to do this weekend. BTW the Water Carnival has grown quite a bit in the last few years and is a large event. Probably comparable to the Cave City Watermelon Festival (no offense intended Gary Loggains). Actually it is a big deal now. Sorry I'm going to miss it but I have to go to Fayetteville and play golf this weekend. One other thing, remember the new stoplight at 20th & Harrison? It is fully functional now and it is a real pain in the butt. It is really hard now to make a left turn going down the hill on Harrison. I have had to resort to cutting through Jim Davis's parking lot (hope you don't mind Jim, I think I'm the only one doing that). Oh well I guess that's the price you pay for living in the city. BTW if you notice this is not quite as fancy this time and minus the 3 stooges, it is to accommodate Gary Issac. Seems he couldn't read my Rich Text Format I was sending in so I have changed to Plain Text. I am also going to resend the last message to you Gary. Gary you can get a new FREE email program by downloading or ordering the FREE CD Internet Explorer 5 from Microsoft (Bill wants to give back some of his 90 billion ya know) here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/That's all for now but if you think of anything you would like to hear about here in the city or want me to go by and visit your mom or dad (my father died in 1986 but my mother calls and leaves a message like "I was just wondering if you were still alive"), a picture of your old house, etc. just let me know. Au revoir, John John Vinson jvinson@bhs1969.com |
