It is finally here, what we golfers refer to as the Dark Ages (at least us in the middle latitudes of the U.S.). The last Sunday in Oct to the first Sunday in April. Gets dark at 5 p.m., cold weather, blah blah blah, yadda, yadda, yadda. I've made it the last 40 something years, guess I can make another one. That time of the year to catch up on all the inside projects, you know the ones you are going to do when you get time? Right! I saw Danny D'Rock going to his new restaurant last week. I think things are progressing smoothly on the Lockhouse renovation. Not much else happening in the big city other than the bro ha ha concerning the decision whether to break up our current law enforcement structure making a separate city and county police force (remember Jim Mitchum, Officer Jones and Noel Baldridge, a stoplight at Main & Central and one at St. Louis & Harrison? Things were much simpler then). There is a new series in the B Guard covering the history of Batesville. If you like that kind of stuff here is the URL: http://www.guardonline.com/190009Economicgrowth.html It will probably be taken off today but I have copied it and will put in on our BHS1969 website later this week. Seems the older I get the more I am interested in history (Is that because I am becoming history myself?) Anyway the article is one in a series to be published every Friday for the next 10 weeks. I haven't been in contact with the locals lately but I guess my phone is still working (what was that song by Randy Travis "Since my phone still ain't ringing, I guess it still ain't you?"). Kinky and I talked a week or so back and are going to do the lunch thing as soon as our people call each other. I am headed back to CA for more computer training in about 3 weeks. Get to travel Thanksgiving week and returning on Thanksgiving day. Wonder if it will be crowded at the Airports?? I heard from several of you after I sent the email out about telling parents how much you appreciate them. I didn't put them on the Classmate Chat because I wanted to ask permission to publish first. BTW (remember that's computer talk for By the Way) if you send me email and do not wish to have it published just let me know in the message. But thanks to those who responded and I appreciate you sharing your feelings with me. Whoo hoo! My son finally made the honor roll (he has hovered just below since he started HS) and his car insurance went down $440 a year. Who says education doesn't pay? He has been paying the difference himself so his monthly payments went down. He was quite ecstatic (well as ecstatic and a 17 year old can be in the presence of his parents). Well the rain and fog are lifting so I better get to work. Let me hear from you all (or you guys, depending on your geographic location). That brings to mind a joke about the North and South. It has a bad word so if language offends read no further. What's the difference in the way a Fairy Tale begins in the North versus the South? In the North a Fairy Tale begins: "Once upon a Time" and in the South it begins "You ain't gonna believe this shit". Peace, John
