Thank goodness someone has a better memory than I do. From David Anderson: John, it wasn't Kenny, it was Jack Pickens, remember. Right after you guys did that, Jack Sharp did a speech on Halloween pranks with recommendations on things to do that would cause the most damage. Mrs. Henley didn't go for it either.David A Thanks David I had been losing sleep over that one. BTW Jack Pickens is a local reverend (a church in Moorefield) and I see him occasionally and ask him to pay me back all those cigarettes he bummed from me in HS. Also heard from Danny D'Rock: Hi Vince, I have been burning the candle at both ends lately, trying to run The Depot Diner, Christmas parties, and building The Lockhouse. I thought at this point in life we would be slowing down and enjoying life and leisure but I am becoming the ultimate workaholic. Maybe some day things will slow down a bit but I think boredom would be worse. Things are going good on the new project. I have been blessed with some good weather. We got trusses up last week and should get decking down by the end of this week. That means I'll have it dried in pretty good for winter time. The plywood floor has had a couple of good rains on it but I think it will be ok. The view from the new spot is great so some time when your passing by stop and take a look. You will also be interested to know that I am considering using some of the railings from The American on the porch if it all works out. I am looking at opening next spring some time. I am planning on making a trip over to Bono where Don Harmon's lighting store is. By the way Don's brother Steve is helping with the framing along with my brother Tim. Take care and I always enjoy your mail. Peace brother, Danny D Thanks for the update Danny. I'll try to stop by and get the river view. Glad there will be some remnants of the old American Motor Inn still standing somewhere. I have one of the sandstone bricks that came from there. They put most of them in the swimming pool for fill. Well I've been doing my Christmas shopping tonight. This Internet is great for shopping especially for those of us that are lazy and like to shop in our underwear. It does take a lot longer though as I tend to get sidetracked a lot. This Saturday night my niece Kristie (my little brother Buddy's eldest daughter) is getting married and Saturday night we are hosting all the Vinson relatives for a semi family reunion. Anetta and her daughter are coming from Texas. (For those of you that don't remember Anetta Earle is my dad's sister and she was the Music teacher in HS) Also my sisters Jane and Martha and some of their kids are coming along with Nan and her family. Aren't you all excited!! I had lunch with Kinky today and we stuffed ourselves with Chinese food. It took us an hour and a half to eat. We shot the bull and talked about Kinky's new abode at the lake. TTFN, John
