E-Mail Notice 4-10-99

Hello everybody,

I sent the email addresses to my contact at the Batesville Guard and she told me she would get us on the website. Apparently I don't have as much pull as I thought. I am CCing this to her so she will know we are still waiting.

It's another Saturday night in the hot spot of the US. The big controversy around town is whether to make Harrison street 3 lanes going east (that's toward Moorefield for you women) and a single lane going west (that's toward the Citizen's Bank). They say the lanes are too narrow for the old folks. Don't these people have other things to worry about? The AHD says there are 17,000 cars a day headed west on this street, that would be nice in a single lane. I knew it was getting crowded around here. I get really mad when it takes me more than 5 minutes to get to work. You city dwellers feeling sorry for me yet? Remember when we were growing up and there were only 2 stoplights on the main drag? Remember when in 1967 the new cars had the parking lights that came on with the headlights and you could see the police car coming from a long way off?

Anyway, we are welcoming two new members to our email list. Ex-Senator (or is it like the Presidency and a Coach where he is always Senator?) Steven Bell and Pam Brown. Got Steven signed up on the golf course and Pam emailed me after perusing the BHS website. How did you find it anyway Pam? (see Pam's stuff on the where are they now page)

My wife and I had dinner with Lynda Vinson-Kerr and her husband Tommy tonight at the new Mexican place, El Acapulco. We finally got a good Mexican place to eat and to top it off they have a smoking section. Lynda is still begging for a price cut on the reunion if she attends just one night. We will discuss it at the next meeting and probably acquiesce.

I haven't talked to MSS in a few days so I don't know if we have any response yet on the invites. We will probably have a meeting in early May.

The American Motor Inn is now history. The sign is still up but will probably come down Monday.

I leave for school on Tuesday (Lynda Vinson-Kerr and I have a birthday then) headed first to Houston where Patsy Lee-Gibson is going to fetch me and she and her husband Joey are taking me to dinner. Then on Saturday I'm off to CA with a layover in Salt Lake City where John Vaughn Miller is going to meet me at the airport and take me to see the Mormon Tabernacle. It was in question for a while cause he is still in the military reserves and thought he might have to play army. Nancy Burdick is picking me up at the airport in San Jose on Saturday. So in addition to becoming smarter I am going to get to visit with some classmates.

I'll e-mail everyone when I get back and maybe we will have some news about the reunion.

John
