Pictures from the 6-14-99 meeting

Well class it's me again, your mild mannered reporter.  Our next reunion meeting is tomorrow night 7 p.m. at Kinky's.  We plan to semi-finalize plans for the two big nights.  Responses have picked up and hopefully I will post a list of attendees early this week.

Like to welcome Steve "Hennert" Henry to the e-mail group.  He filled out the website form and I have his current information posted there.  Jimmy Doherty also has joined the group and sent in some bio information.  That brings the total classmates on our list to 38 or 32.4786324786% of the total class of 117.  I'm sure there are more out there that have e-mail but we haven't connected yet.

I got to see my favorite performer a couple of Saturday nights ago.   Johnny Rivers was in, of all places, Searcy.  It was fantastic.  (Even better than the Beach Boys Patsy)  He played for 2 hours and most of his hits.   One could even talk and hear while he was playing. (Didn't I use to not care about that?  Loud was good?) I thought about James Ordie Davis because the band was using a Hammond Organ with a Leslie Speaker.  Anyway, I drug my wife along and she at least knew "Poor Side of Town" and "Baby I Need your Lovin'" but she liked him.  I didn't realize what a great guitar player he is (almost as good as Danny).

News from around the town:
We have our second Sonic here.  It opened a couple of weeks ago.  The new stop lights at 20th & Harrison are up but not yet working (should be by the time you all get here).  Remember the old White house down by the dam?  The city owns it and they are trying to get someone to put a restaurant there and guess what, our very own Danny Dozier is trying to do just that!  He wants to move his Depot Diner to the river (will it be the Riverboat Diner then Danny?)  I'm not sure how far along the negotiations are but maybe tomorrow night Danny will come to the meeting and tell us or e-mail me. Oh yeah, Becky Ford I have gone by the new Auto Zone at night and I hope your parents have good curtains or blinders to sleep in because the glare from those neon lights are intense.  Batesville is trying to annex north and the people there are up in arms.  The main purpose is to get the population over 10,000 so more businesses will move here.  I say we are too big already, the traffic is terrible around 7:30 a.m and 4:30 p.m., takes me an extra 2 minutes to get home.  Besides who wants to have to chain their dog up on a farm (our leash law).

Parenting:
We let our 17 year old son go to Memphis last week to the WWF matches in the Pyramid.   It was a major ordeal for my wife and she worried from the time he left till he got home.  He was suppose to call when he got back to Arkansas but said he forgot (I figured he would be too embarrassed to call his Mommy in front of his friends; I know I would have at that age).  These mothers and sons I tell you.....

I have to get ready to go play golf (ice down the beer, etc.) so I will exit.   Don't be surprised if you get called tomorrow night.  All you committee members make sure and be there.  MSS have you reminded everyone??
