| 8-10-99 Thought you might be interested in an article in the Guard today about our own Danny Dozier and his dam restaurant. I have copied it to the BHS 69 website: http://www.bhs1969.com/bhs/dozierlockhouse.htm I notice you ignored my advice Danny and instead of naming it the Dam Restaurant it will be called the Lockhouse Restaurant. I guess that's okay. BTW I will see you Friday at lunch. Anyway it should be a pretty groovy place to eat and hang out when he gets it finished.(Wonder if one can smoke on the open deck??) We are having our post reunion meeting tomorrow night and I will catch you up with the committee's thoughts and activities after the meeting (maybe the behavior at the meeting). Got an e-mail from Don Harmon who is in China. I will post it at the end of this (actually on classmate responses: http://www.bhs1969.com/bhs/30%20year/responses.htm TTFN, John
8-12-99 Hey everyone, Sorry that I will be unable to expound on the meeting but I am too fatigued tonight. I will try to get to it this weekend, however the links are calling and I will be in Newport playing golf beginning tomorrow afternoon. Suffice it to say that we swapped a lot of stories and the general consensus was that everyone had a good time. We talked mostly about Susie since she didn't attend tonight. In the meantime we have another classmate in the paper tonight. Well kind of; it is Becky Ford's Dad, Robert. I will copy and post it later but if you get to it before about noon tomorrow it is here: http://www.guardonline.com/Localmanrecalls.html Peace, John 8-15-99 Hey everybody, Thought I would send something to get your Monday morning off to a good start. I have posted more responses from classmates about the reunion: http://www.bhs1969.com/bhs/30%20year/responses.htm Like I said in the last e-mail our post reunion meeting was mostly story swapping and who all we got to talk to and the ones we missed. Seems like there just wasn't enough time to spend with everyone. One of the main items was where Steve Alexander was going with his story about Kinky. Kinky said he knew, but the rest of us didn't have a clue. For those of you who missed the story, it seems Kinky was Steve's inspiration for getting his act together and accomplish something in his life; albeit starting out his goal was to become a Green Beret, return to Batesville and whip up on Kinky. Seems he went from that goal to becoming a surgeon. Who would've thunk Kinky could be such an inspiration? Anyway, luckily Steve's goal changed and Kinky avoided serious injury. I would like to respond to something Karen Callis-Lewis stated in her response about the reunion. The part where she stated that I could sing. I think she was just impressed that I knew all the words to Roger Miller's "Chug-A- Lug", that coupled with the fact that she probably had imbibed a little too much must have given her that impression. But thanks Karen I do like to sing and if you had made all the 8-Track tapes that I made from 1967-1977 you would know all the words too. Also have a little Good News/Bad News to report. My 17 year old son, Josh spent the night at a friends house Friday night and was driving the 3 blocks home Saturday morning and apparently blacked out or fell asleep (his blood/alcohol level was 0 thank goodness). He left the road and smashed head-on into a tree. I just happened to be outside weed eating and heard it and was on the scene within a minute. He of course didn't have his seat belt on (can anyone tell me how to get kids to wear seat belts?) but did have an air bag which deployed and kept him from going through the windshield. But did you know that when air bags deploy the doors automatically lock? I couldn't get in the vehicle. We finally got a hammer and broke the window out. Anyway after a thorough exam he is going to be okay but the windshield did a number on his face. One of the scariest times of my life so far. Didn't mean to depress or scare anyone but thought I would pass the info along to some of you that know Josh. More news later. As Danny D'Rock says Peace Brother, John |
