I have been in Little Rock since 1978 in the structural engineering consulting business. From 1985 until 2004 my partners and I owned a small 40 person consulting engineering firm and in 2004 merged our firm with Crafton Tull & Associates of Rogers, AR. In 2006 we purchased the Sparks Architects in Oklahoma and now employ about 300 people in eight offices. Son Ryan (23) graduated with an electrical engineering degree from the UofA and continued for a year in graduate studies before taking a job in May 2008 with Southwest Power Pool in Little Rock . By the time we all get together he will be the proud owner of his first home and will no longer be under my roof (and control). I lost him as a tax deduction last year, so it is time for him to make it on his own. Daughter Robyn (17) graduates from Central High later this month (5/09) and will be in the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri (Mizzou) this fall. Go Tigers!? Hmm, being a Hog fan, don\'t know if I can say that with real spirit. She is a wonderful writer and enjoyed the experience this year of helping produce Central\'s yearbook. We really look forward to seeing her talent develop further at Mizzou. Wife Kristin continues to be the stay at home Mom with more than enough to do just taking care of us all plus the brown dog named Sierra. She continues to be buried in her passion for photography and scrapbooking (aka, crapping in my words). She really has an artistic side and produces some incredible pages of our lives together. Individually, and as a family, we still love the outdoors and have spent many years camping in the wilderness areas of our great State. In 2002 we decided to try something different and bought a 31-ft travel trailer for vacation camping. Each summer we have headed off in a new direction and have enjoyed trips to Florida, a number of National Parks including Rocky Mtn NP, both rims of the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Capital Reef, Monument Valley and others. Some of you will remember my red Cushman motor scooter that I rode around town when we were in the 8th and 9th grades. I bought it from cousin Arch (Mary Bryan\'s husband) who inherited it from brother Mike. Mike gave it up for a car and Arch gave it up because of a broke leg. I can\'t believe my parents let me buy it after Arch was hit by a car. I think I paid $85, my whole summer earnings. The twist throttle was broken most of the time so I wore a Mule work glove on my left hand to protect my thumb from the heat of the engine while operating the throttle lever on the carborator . Michael Jackson only thought he was the first guy to be known for his gloved hand! Well, two years ago I decided to ride again (gloves on both hands) and bought a BMW K1200R crouch rocket. Nothing like a quick ride out into the country to rid the mind of clutter. I do struggle though, becoming a bit juvenile with all that horse power, but keep my insurance policies up to date. I can\'t wait to see everyone again and really appreciate you guys in B\'ville keepin\' the fires going and taking the time to put this together for the rest of us. Love you all! Ken |
