November 19,
2002 I moved to California in 1972, a wonderful
place to live, not least of all because there is a strong emphasis
on personal freedom which leads to a relaxed style of thought and
dress, aka anything goes and a city like Berkeley which declared
itself a nuclear free zone some years ago. Don't know how this
enforced but it is one of the reasons locals call it Berzerkly. Not
too much snow here unless you seek it, summer events never need a
back up plan in case of rain because it does not rain from late
spring until fall and the few mosquitoes are very slow flyers. I am
so looking forward to returning to Arkansas at retirement the one
place I feel most at home.

It's amazing how many years have gone by since we graduated and yet
we still look so much the same. Never feel any older unless I try to
run (gasp!). My interrupted zoology degree at ASU is still not
completed by I figure it's in progress until I no longer am. Seeing
my classmates again has become much more important after breaking
the ice with a few of you, can't believe how shy I still feel, quite
ridiculous in such an old, I mean mature, bag. I'll be looking for
you next time I'm in Batesville and hoping for a chance to get some
of Rose Dozier's most excellent desserts at Danny's new place on the
river.
